Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero is an American actress singer and former model. She was the main female performer for Apollonia 6 and co-starred in Prince's film Purple Rain from 1984. Apollonia was christened as an actress and female singer by Prince. In the '80s Apollonia was one of numerous artists who benefited from Prince. Patricia Kotero was born in Santa Monica, California in the year 1959. Her first professional venture was with modeling in the latter part of 1970. She also made an appearance on CHiPS. In 1984, she was cast as the female lead of Prince's Purple Rain (during which time she altered her name) and replaced Vanity in the female duo Vanity 6 performing with them in the film under the name Apollonia 6. She made more of an impact on the charts as Prince's mate in Take Me with You, a duet from the soundtrack. Kotero's relationship with Prince came to an end when the duo had an argument over the direction she was taking in her career. Apollonia 6, the group that she belonged to had a split. The actress was featured in numerous small films, including Purple Rain's sequel Under the Cherry Moon (which she did not want to be in), and then landed the role of Falcon Crest on the Night-Time drama Falcon Crest from 1985-1986. Apollonia was finally able to release her debut album in 1988, but the fairly pedestrian set of R&B/dance songs failed to be a hit with the music-buying public and soon the album vanished from sight. During the following decade, she continued to be active in the field of acting (if somewhat off the radar) as well as a couple of film roles, television appearances and even an exercise film. Apollonia's Stay With Me album was released in 1997. After returning to university and receiving an associate's degree in filmmaking. Then she founded her own company. Apollonia is a multi-talented woman. A former model, actress and singer and talent manager. The year 1984 was the time she was recognized with her role in Purple Rain. Other films and TV programs are Black Magic Woman, The Divorce Ceremony and many more. Kotero debuted her career as a model. She took part in various contests and pageants. Kotero won first prize in her first contest, the Miss San Pedro Beauty Pageant. In the early 1980s she started in acting.
